Cotinine & Alcohol Detection
Cotinine (COT), a biomarker for tobacco use, is an alkaloid found in tobacco and is also a major metabolite of Nicotine, which produces stimulation of the autonomic ganglia and central nervous system in humans.
A positive saliva alcohol test reflects a Blood Alcohol Contraction (BAC) of 0.02% (0.02g/dL). This is equivalent to the level at which an individual is considered positive for the presence of alcohol by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT).
